Accessibility (BFSG) & Accessible Design

Inclusion as standard

A website for everyone.

Many people think: Accessibility is for people with disabilities. That's true - but it's also much more. An accessible website is better for people with visual impairments, better for hearing impairments, better for motor disabilities, better for older people with vision problems, better for anyone who wants to quickly capture a website, better for Google. Often even a legal must (BFSG from 2025). This is not extra work. This is intelligent design.

What exactly is accessibility – and why do you need it?

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard for accessible websites. This means: All images have alt text, sufficient contrast, everything works via keyboard, screen readers can understand the website. That sounds like a lot - but with modern web design, a lot of it is automatic.

The Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) comes into force in 2025. Companies with over 250 employees and over EUR 50 million in sales must comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Non-compliance can result in fines. But even if you don't fall under the BFSG: accessibility is worth it. You reach more people, get better Google rankings, protect yourself from future regulations and do the right thing.

What you get

Accessibility Audit

Automated tests with tools like WAVE, axe, PAC. Manual testing: keyboard navigation, screen reader testing, mobile testing, cognitive accessibility. User testing with real people with disabilities if budget. The result: A detailed report on what works and what doesn't.

Accessible Design & Conception

We already design with accessibility in mind. Contrast ratios are checked. Interactive elements are big enough. Navigation is logically structured.

Semantic HTML & Accessibility implementation

Correct HTML structure, Correct heading structure. ARIA labels where necessary. Keyboard Navigation.

Alt text & Media Accessibility

All images have meaningful alt text. Videos have subtitles. Audio content has transcripts. No information is solely audio-based.

Shape & Interactive Element Accessibility

All forms have correct labels. All functions are accessible from the keyboard. States are clear (is this button active?). Focus indicator is visible.

QA & Testing

Accessibility Testing is part of the QA Process. We check before something goes live.

Team training & Guidelines

We help your team understand how to build accessible websites. Development guidelines for future features.

Continuous Accessibility Monitoring

Regular audits to ensure you remain accessible, especially when new features are added.

Our process

  1. 1. Phase

    Audit & Analysis

We check where your website stands today. Automated tests + manual tests + user testing.

  2. 2. Phase

    Strategy & Prioritization

Based on the audit, we develop an implementation roadmap. What are the most critical problems?

  3. 3. Phase

    Roadmap & Prioritization

Which fixes do we make first? Where can we make quick profits?

  4. 4. Phase

    Implementation support

We build accessibility into design and development. From the beginning, not afterwards.

  5. 5. Phase

    Review & Customization

After implementation, we check that everything works. Ongoing optimization.

Who is this ideal for?

E-Commerce

All product information is accessible. Checkout process works without a mouse. Filters and searches also work without JavaScript.

B2B & Corporate websites

Forms have correct labels. PDFs are accessible. Navigation is logical. Content is well structured.

Large companies (BFSG relevant)

If you have over 250 employees and EUR 50M in sales, BFSG is mandatory from 2025. We help you become compliant.

Public & Government websites

Public websites should be accessible to everyone. Accessibility is not optional here.

How much does it cost?

Accessibility Audit

1,500-3,000 EUR

Full analysis, bottleneck identification, prioritized recommendations.

Accessibility implementation (simple)

2,000-5,000 EUR

Alt text, contrast fixes, basic ARIA, keyboard navigation.

Accessibility implementation (complex)

5,000-15,000 EUR

Complete redesign for accessibility, new HTML structure, extensive ARIA implementation.

Ongoing Compliance & Monitoring

300-800 EUR/month

Regular audits, continuous monitoring, new feature accessibility, training for your team.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about this service.

Doesn't accessibility cost a lot extra?

Not necessarily. If you design for accessibility from the start, it will cost similar to standard design. If you have to make improvements later, yes, it will cost more.

Complete accessibility is impossible?

That's right. But WCAG Level AA is not perfection – this is the standard. Reasonable best effort. This is achievable.

Can we make our existing website accessible?

Yes, but it's more work than if you start from scratch. We analyze you, prioritize the most important fixes, and build the implementation.

Do we have to follow BFSG?

That depends on the size of your company. But even if not: accessibility is worth it.
